On September 19, EEC Ohio participated in the virtual visit of a delegation from Syria, hosted by Global Ties Akron. The visitors were part of the Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development Initiative: A Project for Syria. These visitors were invited to the program under the auspices of the Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program. The program took place from September 11 – 28, 2023.
Cleveland State University’s Startup Vikes provides interdisciplinary student teams a pathway for taking an idea from formation to venture creation.
During 2023-24, EEC will be working with a Leadership Action Project (LAP) team through Cleveland Leadership Center’s Cleveland Bridge Builders program. LAPs are community-based initiatives that will benefit from a deep dive of a cross-sector team of civic leaders over a 10-month engagement.
TSH provides coaching, funding, speakers, and space for you to be creative and grow through our part-time accelerator. We will help the team level up their skills through our Tech Credentials Program and if they stick with it, they can graduate with a minimum viable product or prototype to socialize and bring to market.
On October 13 at noon Dr. Peter Rea, Vice President of Integrity and Ethics at Parker Hannifin Corporation, will join us for a one-hour Fireside Chat on a critically important topic—Ethics & Entrepreneurship. This not-to-be-missed session will explore how entrepreneurs can build virtue and integrity into their everyday practices and decision-making, improving their chances of success. Register here to join us for this important conversation!
EEC Ohio is delighted to welcome Liz Pryor as our new Program and Operations Manager. Liz joined the team on August 1, and is off to a great start managing our Tech Side Hustle, Tech Internship, and other educational programs. She will be working directly with our Entrepreneurs-in-Residence, John Knific and Mike Belsitio.
EEC’s Tech Internship Program is seeking to fill three more positions this fall. Interns and startups alike express their excitement about the value of the experience. The program placed seven interns in the spring semester, all working in tech-related positions.
Interns have access to workshops and opportunities designed to supplement their learning on the job. EEC will be matching companies and interns on a rolling basis and that process will continue until all positions are filled. These internships are made possible through Ohio Third Frontier support, facilitated through Bounce Innovation Hub. For more information visit the EEC website! Questions? Contact Liz Pryor liz@eccohio.org Dear EEC Friends,
Another academic year is upon us and EEC is ready to dive in! We start this new year with the transformational achievements of 2022-23 under our belts and more horsepower on board to continue our exciting path forward. Help us help more Northeast Ohio college students launch more ventures! We are in the home stretch of a challenge grant campaign.
We need to raise $9,500 by the end of September to meet our goal! For every dollar raised through the EEC GoFundMe campaign, we will receive $2 from generous supporters. Cleveland is often referred to as the “Green City on a Blue Lake” recognizing its bold ambition to pursue transformative business opportunities and simultaneously think green.
