In this issue, we look back on the impact EEC has had on an Immersion Week alumnus and his entrepreneurial idea. Trevor Clatterbuck was a student at Case Western Reserve University in 2007, when as a rising senior, he signed up for EEC’s very first Immersion Week. This is his story and reflection on the launch of his business and its growth since those early days.
EEC welcomed its Tech Side Hustle Cohort Two on February 10, 2023, joined by graduates of Cohort One and hosted by SmartShape Design in Cleveland. Students delivered short pitches on their venture ideas to an audience of mentors, fellow students, EEC Board members and Staff.
Starting a company can be a confusing and stressful endeavor and knowing where to start can be the hardest part.
There are often some questions that aspiring entrepreneurs may have or some things they may not know. This article will cover some of the basic groundwork you need to know before starting your venture and also hopefully help alleviate some of the fears and stress you may have before diving into the world of entrepreneurship. Anne Skoch is a graduate of Kent State University's entrepreneurship program and has been an entrepreneur since the age of 13 when she started selling handbags that she sewed herself.
After graduating in 2016, Anne utilized what she learned at Kent State to start Anne Cate, a made in America accessory brand and manufacturer specializing in creating skyline silhouette purses and other simplistic accessories. Sarah Waters is a graduate of Lorain County Community College where she completed a partnership with Hiram University in environmental studies.
After completing her degree, Sarah decided to follow her passion for animals and launched Boondock Boarding with her husband Ray. Located in New London, Boondock Boarding is a Northeast Ohio regional pet care service offering board, bathing, rescue, and limited training services to pet owners. When starting Envision Clothing, Mike wanted to create something other than just a clothing product. He wanted to create a branded wellness community focused on constantly improving people and continued self-development.
Nicole Babik is currently attending Baldwin Wallace University where she is majoring in education and pursuing a minor in entrepreneurship.
After receiving a lot of encouragement from family members, Nicole decided to start Notably Yours Greeting Cards. Located in Medina Ohio, Notably Yours Greeting Cards creates stationery products for every occasion. The products Nicole creates range from wedding invitations and greeting cards to stickers. Cameron Zona is a student at Lake Erie College and is pursuing a unique double major in Theater and Entrepreneurship.
Combining his passion for art and entrepreneurship, Cameron started The Access Theater Project. This is a pay-what-you-will theater company focused on providing accessible theater art to anyone in Northeast Ohio. |
