EEC Ohio Connects Overseas

On September 19, EEC Ohio participated in the virtual visit of a delegation from Syria, hosted by Global Ties Akron. The visitors were part of the Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development Initiative: A Project for Syria. These visitors were invited to the program under the auspices of the Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program. The program took place from September 11 – 28, 2023.  

​The program provided participants the opportunity to: 

• Discuss societal barriers facing entrepreneurs, especially women and other disadvantaged groups, and best practices in overcoming these restrictions; 
• Explore various business models, support mechanisms, and innovations such as micro-lending, multi-level marketing, and internet tools.  

EEC’s CEO Deb Hoover spoke at the event on our organization’s ecosystem-building activities, Tech Side Hustle, and ideaLabs.
