In October, the EDA announced the recipients of the Tech Hubs awards, including the Greater Akron Chamber, chosen from more than 400 applicants and the only recipient selected in Ohio. EEC is a collaborator on this project and will be working with GAC and other partners to connect university students to the cluster. “The program, authorized by the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act and administered by the Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration, invests directly in burgeoning, high-potential U.S. regions and aims to transform them into globally competitive innovation centers. Designation is an endorsement of the region’s plans to supercharge their respective technological industries to create jobs, strengthen U.S. competitiveness, and protect national security.”
