IntroductionNicole Babik, a middle childhood education major from Baldwin Wallace University, never imagined creating stationery would become anything more significant than an amusing pastime. With the encouragement of her family and friends, however, she was able to grow and expand her creative hobby into a thriving business. Notably Yours Greeting Cards was formed in 2015 when Babik was only 16 years old. Since their launch, they have expanded to not only greeting cards, but stickers, wedding invitations, personalized stationery, and much more. Starting Notably Yours Greeting CardsWhen Nicole first began playing with the idea of starting a business, she was worried about selling to those she loved instead of making it for them for fun. Her family urged her on and helped her recognize her talent and passion for her hobby, and she was able to understand the worth of her time and effort. Like many others, Nicole was also concerned about the time commitment her business would take since she was also about to balance a college career in education. When she arrived at Baldwin Wallace, she learned a lot from her marketing professors, especially about how to communicate with others. Her professor helped her to realize “you don’t have to know how to market, you don’t have to have the perfect Instagram, you just have to know how to communicate with people”. Soon after, her nerves were quickly settled by the faculty and the support of her peers. “Somebody actually believes in me,” she said. This helped her dedicate more time and become fully invested in her business. ObstaclesNicole said the biggest challenge she faces is time. Balancing her undergraduate degree and owning/maintaining a business is difficult, but with her support system, she is able to find help and delegate time for both responsibilities. She also had a problem with funding, as she first started out paying for supplies with her own money and “hoping that [her] investment would pay off,” she said. To combat that, she worked with BW’s LaunchNet program which provided entrepreneurial assistance through funding and grants, which “helped significantly,” she said. Nicole also wanted to sell to her college friends, so to make her product more accessible and relatable to that demographic, she expanded her business from strictly greeting cards to stickers. Soon after that, she made invitations that could be customized to specific events a customer might have in mind (graduations, weddings, etc). Connect with Notably YoursGraduated from Baldwin Wallace, Nicole is committed to providing excellent service and customer satisfaction through Notable Yours Greeting Cards.
