Do you know students interested in the aerospace industry? EEC Ohio is partnering with other Northeast Ohio organizations to launch a talent pipeline initiative in the aerospace industry. Ohio Aerospace Institute’s (OAI) STEM Talent Challenge is building a robust collaboration to support growth in the region’s aerospace industry. Northeast Ohio has a rich asset base and long track record of collaboration to develop the cluster around STEM and innovative technologies.
With potential funding from the EDA, OAI will expand this effort, leveraging this track record by leading an initiative to mitigate labor shortages in aerospace while increasing employment opportunities for underserved and underrepresented populations. Specifically, the initiative aims to increase the number of manufacturing operations and technology analysts within startups and small to medium businesses in Northeast Ohio’s aerospace innovation economy. Through EEC’s role as the Northeast Ohio collegiate entrepreneurship hub, EEC is committed to serving as a liaison to university programs to identify students with the skills, talent, and interest in the aerospace industry and to connect them as candidates for employer consideration (at least 30 per year). The initiative will also build the region’s capacity to train current and future workers to succeed in an increasingly high-tech environment. Candidates will bring their entrepreneurial know-how to these roles and become part of a movement to bolster and grow aerospace technologies in Northeast Ohio.
